Terms of Sale

  1. Pricing and Payment

All prices are listed in UK Sterling and include VAT. Delivery charges are excluded and added at checkout.

For deliveries outside mainland UK, additional fees (e.g., courier charges, import/export duties, taxes) may apply. Customers will be contacted regarding extra costs.

Payments are processed at the time of purchase via major credit/debit cards.

  2. Order Security

PH takes reasonable precautions to secure your order details. However, we cannot be held liable for any unauthorised access unless due to negligence.

If you do not receive a confirmation email, check your spam/junk folder or contact us directly.

  3. Photographs and Marketing

PH reserves the right to photograph and display products, including special orders, for our website or social media. However, personalised products for special occasions will not be displayed until after the specified date.

Oiling Kitchen Boards, Chopping & Carving Boards
All our kitchen and chopping boards are treated with natural, food-safe oil. To maintain their quality and prevent damage, regular oiling is recommended. For items like carving or draining boards that are frequently exposed to moisture, oiling after each use may be necessary. Details on oiling and care are provided in the care guide included with your product, or feel free to contact us directly for assistance.

Live Edge Chopping Boards & Signs
Our live edge products are custom-made and non-returnable unless faulty. Made from single-piece waney edge (natural edge) timber, they showcase a rustic, organic look. Due to the unique nature of the wood, variations in size, shape, and edge type may occur, and any bark will be removed. Features like natural woodworm markings add to their distinctiveness but do not indicate active infestations.
Careful sanding is applied to live edges, though they remain slightly rough for a natural aesthetic. Items may develop small cracks or splits over time, which can be repaired using wood-colored wax. Large live edge boards are supplied with optional rubber feet for added stability. Regular oiling is essential for outdoor use to prevent weathering.

Door Stops
Our door stops, crafted from character oak beams, naturally include splits and cracks, which may run through engraved details. Over time, existing cracks may expand, adding to their rustic charm. Rubber feet can be adjusted if needed but may mark certain floor types.

Outdoor Products & Oiling
Outdoor items like house signs, benches, swings, and grave markers require regular oiling with Liberon Superior Danish Oil, at least 4–6 times annually, depending on exposure to the elements.

Product Information
Our products are handmade, and slight variations in size, color, and finish are to be expected. Bespoke or personalized items are non-refundable unless faulty. We recommend ordering sets together to ensure uniformity.

Manufacturing Details
All products are made to order. Natural timber variations, including density and hardness, may affect the final product. Any exposed flaws will be addressed during production, but such occurrences are inherent to working with natural materials. If bespoke items are faulty, we may opt for repair or replacement at our discretion. Returns for repair must be arranged by the customer.

Additional Services
We offer engraving and restoration services. Customers must provide images of items before submission for assessment and cost estimation. While we strive for excellence, some products may be unsuitable for restoration or engraving.

Safety Guidelines

  • Toy Boxes: Customers are responsible for child safety. While fitted with safety hinges, lids can still cause injury if closed forcefully.
  • Swings: Ensure the swing and tree are safe for use; professional consultation is advised. Swings are not recommended for children under 14.
  • Alphabet Bricks: These are not intended as toys.

Delivery Information
Most items are crafted and shipped within 7–10 working days, but larger or bespoke items may take longer. PH is not liable for delays or damage incurred during delivery. For specific inquiries, contact us at 07976 564 392.

Damages in Transit:

All goods must be inspected for damage or shortfall upon delivery and reported to us within 24 hours of receipt. Orders transported overseas by the customer must also be unwrapped and checked upon delivery, with any damage or shortfall reported within the same timeframe. PH will not be held liable for any damage reported after this period or if the goods have been taken out of the UK. Goods will not be left without a valid signature from the customer or a responsible person. Occasionally, couriers may leave goods with a neighbour, which the customer accepts as part of the delivery process. PH will not be held responsible for damages unless specified on the order date.

All packaging must be retained for any returns. Couriers may request images or direct inspection of the goods and packaging. Disposal of packaging prior to a claim may result in an inability to issue a refund or replacement.

Delivery notes provided with the order will be passed on to the couriers. While they will try to accommodate requests, PH is not liable for unmet delivery instructions. If a parcel is requested to be left in a specific location, the customer assumes responsibility for any loss or theft.

Toy Box Delivery:

Toy boxes are packaged in custom-made chipboard crates, weighing up to 70kg, for protection during transit. They are dispatched via TNT on an 8 am – 6 pm Monday to Friday door delivery service. Once the order is complete, we will contact you to arrange delivery. Saturday delivery is available at an additional cost. Customers must be present to sign for the delivery and assist the courier in moving the crate from the van to the front door. If assistance is unavailable, delivery can be rescheduled using a low loader van and pallet truck, subject to availability.

Couriers are not permitted to enter your property for health and safety reasons. Customers living in flats or with stair access must inform us prior to placing an order.

Important: When signing for your toy box, sign as “DAMAGED” to allow time for inspection. The driver can leave while you check the toy box, but this must be done immediately upon receipt. Report any damage by the end of the delivery day. Failure to inspect and report damages may void claims. Opening the crate requires a screwdriver and two people.

Loss of a Parcel:

Parcel loss is beyond our control once the order leaves our workshop. We comply with courier procedures to locate the parcel. If untraceable, claims processing may take up to six weeks, with refunds issued thereafter. Updates will be provided throughout the process.

Overseas Orders:

Orders shipped outside our listed destinations incur separate shipping costs. Customers are responsible for customs charges and additional fees. Shipping times vary, and delays caused by customs are outside our control. Tracking numbers will be provided for all shipments.

Cancellation:

Orders can be canceled unless items have been personalized, cut to order, or specific timber has been ordered. Refunds will be issued in full. PH reserves the right to refuse transactions or service at its discretion.

Returns:

For issues with purchases, contact us within 24 hours of receipt at 01252 703196 or info@purpleheartwood.co.uk. Only non-customized, blank items are eligible for return within seven days. Bespoke or personalized items are non-refundable but may be repaired or replaced. Returns require original packaging where possible. Customers bear the cost of return postage, which must be via recorded delivery. Refunds for return postage are issued only if the fault lies with PH.

Free Gifts:

Promotional free gifts are not eligible for monetary refunds. Only one promotional offer may be used per transaction.

Stock Shortages:

If an item is unavailable, customers can opt for a full refund or wait for restocking.

Gift Vouchers:

Gift vouchers are non-refundable, non-exchangeable for cash, and valid until the expiry date. Refunds for purchases made with gift vouchers will be reissued as eVouchers. Lost or stolen vouchers cannot be replaced.

Faulty or Damaged Goods:

Damages or faults must be reported within 24 hours of receipt. Items should be returned within seven days via recorded delivery. Original packaging is preferred, but secure packaging is required. Return postage is at the customer’s expense unless the fault is due to PH. Once received, items will be inspected and repaired or replaced as necessary.

Products are natural and require proper care. Damage due to improper use, climate change, or lack of maintenance is not covered. Repairs and postage costs for wear and tear are chargeable.
